Competing With Your Greatest Potential

By Evan Sanders

When it really comes down to it, your best life is going to be built when you start focusing on quality over quantity.

Maybe it's the world we have grown up in or something else completely, but there seems to be a compelling urge for people to get infatuated with going for quantity vs. quality. Who knows why this really is, but the results are known. When you end up going for quantity over quality, your life cheapens completely and you are surrounded by a whole bunch of stuff that doesn't really have much value to it.

I am a firm believer in the indisputable fact that there are things, people and goals that can only ever be reached when you grow into them. When you are going for the cheap stuff, you aren't ready yet. The day you can look yourself in the face and tell yourself that you aren't yet built to take on something huge is a very grounding, humbling, and yet above all...inspiring day.

Most people become disappointed with their lives because they never had the courage or guts to go after what they really wanted for themselves.

You have to be willing to make the sacrifices necessary today in order to see a better tomorrow.

You have to be willing to put your name on the board, write a goal with it, and give it everything you have.

And here's the final touch, you have to be willing to constantly raise the bar on yourself and who you are in order to achieve something that you've never achieved before.

It's amazing the disconnect that happens when people search for happiness. What's interesting however, is that when you don't seek it...it actually comes to you. I did not search for happiness at all. However, I did not partake in the standard "just be satisfied" rubbish either. What I did was work on improving upon myself, doing the things which I knew would make me a more fulfilled person, and when it was right, I let happiness find me.

There is so much material out there about being happy, but one thing that is for sure is when you start "trying" to be happy it will always elude you.

The bedrock of your greatest self will be built on sacrifice. Are you really willing to do the things today that others do not do? Are you willing to do the things that you know you are really capable of but are very tough? It is hard to look yourself in the face often and say, "I'm going to compete with my potential today."

Sacrifice is what will make you great.

Make something of yourself today.
